Reviewer verdict

Across 24 YouTube reviews, the Viofo A229 Pro earns an Index score of 4.1/5, ranking #25 among Dash Cams. Reviewers most often praise its features, video quality, ease of use, while the most common criticisms concern other, features.

The A229 Pro is widely praised as a feature-rich, three-channel dash cam with strong consensus (many reviewers) on its advanced capabilities like 4K front/2K rear/1080p cabin recording, Sony Starvis 2 sensors, HDR and robust parking monitoring options. Reviewers frequently highlight excellent video quality and low-light performance, saying license plates and details are readable and night footage is improved. Ease of use, a capable companion app with 5 GHz Wi‑Fi, voice control, and expandable storage (up to 512 GB plus SSD support) are repeatedly noted as convenient benefits. Multiple reviewers also compliment the solid build, capacitor power design for reliability, included CPL filter and optional accessories (remote, hardwire kits) that extend functionality.

Criticisms are less numerous but consistent around installation and bundled accessories: many reviewers point out it does not include a hardwire kit or SD card and wiring can be messy or complicated if you don’t hardwire. A smaller set of reviewers report app/interface roughness and parking-mode quirks (delays, microSD-only recording for certain modes), and some note glare, occasional night-reading failures, or the larger/bulkier form factor as drawbacks. A few reviewers also mention higher cost compared with some alternatives and that certain advanced features require separate purchases or hardwiring.
