Reviewer verdict

Across 25 YouTube reviews, the SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL 2023 earns an Index score of 3.9/5, ranking #45 among Gaming Keyboards. Reviewers most often praise its features, build quality, key switches, while the most common criticisms concern features, value.

The Apex Pro TKL 2023 is widely praised for its feature-packed design, with reviewers frequently highlighting the adjustable OmniPoint switches (dual actuation, per-key actuation and Rapid Trigger/Rapid Tap), the integrated OLED display with a scroll wheel for on-the-fly adjustments, and versatile connectivity (2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, and wired USB-C). Many reviewers also note strong battery life, a tactile volume roller and dedicated media controls, and a useful accessory bundle including a braided detachable USB-C cable, magnetic wrist rest, and built-in keycap/switch puller; these feature and accessory points appear across the majority of reviews. Build quality and acoustics are commonly commended, pointing to a premium aluminum top plate, internal dampening improvements and stable rubber feet. Reviewers also consistently praise the upgraded double-shot PBT keycaps and extensive software customization (onboard profiles, macros, and RGB control) as valuable usability additions.

Criticisms cluster around limited on-board OLED functionality and software quirks: many reviewers complain that RGB effects and some lighting presets cannot be changed via the OLED menu, the on-board menu is sometimes annoying to navigate, and the SteelSeries GG software can be cluttered, inconsistent, or required to retain some settings. Several reviewers report the switches are not universal across the board (function row, arrow keys and some clusters use standard switches), and the keyboard is not fully hot-swappable, which disappointed some users expecting full per-key actuation coverage. Price and perceived value are recurring concerns, with multiple reviewers calling the product expensive, and a handful noted ergonomics/build issues such as a wobbling or small wrist rest, inconsistent feet stability, and uneven sound or stabilizer performance out of the box.
