The Denon AVR-X6800H is widely praised by reviewers for its flagship feature set and expansive connectivity, with many (45 feature mentions, 31 connectivity mentions) highlighting 8K/HDMI 2.1 support, multiple HDMI 2.1 inputs/outputs, HEOS multiroom streaming, and broad HDR and gaming feature support. Reviewers consistently applaud its immersive audio capabilities and flexible channel/configuration options (31 sound mentions, multiple notes about 11.4 onboard amplification and upgradable 13.4 processing), including strong support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced, and independent multi-subwoofer outputs. Ease of setup and calibration also receives frequent positive notes (28 ease-of-use mentions) for Odyssey MultiEQ XT32, a modern high‑definition onscreen interface, and a robust control app. Across reviews the unit’s build quality, power/performance, and value-for-money positioning are also commonly noted, reinforcing the perception of a premium, future‑ready AV receiver favored by home theater enthusiasts (multiple mentions across build, power, and value categories).

Criticisms focus mainly on sound tuning and out‑of‑the‑box calibration preferences (14 sound cons), where Odyssey room correction and certain target curves are described as treble‑forward, overly warm, or causing dips and less intelligible dialogue in some setups. Several reviewers also warn that getting optimal results may require additional paid software or manual tuning (9 ease‑of‑use and 6 value cons), with Direct Live (Dirac) noted as a paid optional upgrade and some users finding the default experience suboptimal. A smaller number of reviewers reported build or quality‑control issues (5 build cons) and wished for more granular EQ/video controls in a product at this level (4 feature cons and 4 connectivity cons). Overall, reviewers agree the unit is feature‑rich but that fine tuning and occasional extra purchases or effort may be needed to reach preferred sonic results.
