The Envoy Pro FX is widely praised for its exceptional speed and real-world performance, with reviewers repeatedly calling it blazing fast for tasks like 4K video editing, backups, and large file transfers (mentioned in many reviews). Many reviewers also highlighted broad connectivity and cross-platform compatibility—Thunderbolt and USB support, included cables/adapters, and plug-and-play use—with about a third of reviews noting this flexibility. Its compact, premium aluminum form factor and extreme portability were frequently complimented, and numerous reviewers pointed out rugged, IP67-rated construction and strong durability claims. A smaller but consistent set of reviewers also liked practical features such as integrated heat dissipation, bus-powered operation, and a multi-year warranty or optional software support.

Criticisms centered on inconsistent write performance and slowdowns under large or sustained transfers, with multiple reviewers reporting significant speed drops or lengthy transfer times in real workloads. Several reviewers experienced compatibility or system stability issues—kernel panics, crashes, or setup limitations on certain platforms—and noted that some enclosures or versions had specific problems. Price was a recurring negative, with a number of reviewers calling the drive expensive or harder to justify compared to cheaper alternatives. A minority of reviewers also mentioned thermal warmth during heavy use, an attached cable that some find bulky, and occasional reliability/file corruption concerns.
