Reviewer verdict

Across 22 YouTube reviews, the Amazon Fire HD 8 (2022) earns an Index score of 3.5/5, ranking #52 among Tablets. Reviewers most often praise its performance, operating system, display, while the most common criticisms concern operating system, performance.

The Fire HD 8 (2022) is widely praised for noticeably improved real-world performance, with many reviewers (63 mentions) calling the new processor and increased RAM a definite upgrade that makes the tablet snappy for media, basic multitasking, and light gaming. Reviewers frequently highlight the tablet’s media strengths — good speakers with Dolby Atmos, solid streaming and ebook reading experiences, and a comfortable 8-inch display — echoing praise across performance, audio, and display categories. Amazon’s Fire OS and ecosystem features (40 mentions) — including multiple profiles, Alexa support, easy access to Prime Video/Audible/Kindle, and parental controls — are repeatedly valued, especially for families. Value is another consistent theme (30 mentions): reviewers consider the device very affordable and a strong value-for-money option given its capabilities and included features.

Critics repeatedly point to limitations when pushing the tablet: reviewers noted lag, stutters, app closures, and poor behavior under heavier gaming or intensive multitasking (32 mentions), indicating the improved performance still has clear ceilings. The Fire OS ecosystem and app availability (29 mentions) draw frequent criticism for being locked to Amazon’s store, lacking Google services and some popular apps, and showing lock‑screen ads unless paid to remove them. The display and cameras receive repeated complaints (25 and 16 mentions respectively) for being only HD with visible pixels or washed-out colors and for offering low-quality, merely usable cameras. Several reviewers also flagged modest storage/RAM options and some slow charging/battery charging behavior as pain points.

Analysis based on 22 YouTube reviews (3h 3m of video) with 329 pros and 197 cons extracted.
