Reviewer verdict
Across 18 YouTube reviews, the Kingston NV2 earns an Index score of 4.1/5, ranking #24 among SSDs. Reviewers most often praise its performance, price, compatibility, while the most common criticisms concern performance, power consumption.
The Kingston NV2 is widely praised by reviewers for its strong real-world performance, with about 50 mentions noting faster-than-advertised sequential and snappy read/write speeds and noticeably improved system responsiveness. Reviewers also frequently highlight its value, with roughly two dozen comments calling the drive very affordable or offering compelling price-to-performance. Many reviewers (13 mentions) point out broad compatibility and ease of installation across Gen3/Gen4 platforms and small systems, and several comments (12 mentions) praise the compact single-sided M.2 2280 form factor. Power efficiency, endurance, and basic software/warranty support are also mentioned positively, though less often than performance and price.
Criticisms focus mainly on performance under sustained or heavy workloads: 23 comments report throttling, drop-offs after heavy writes or lower-than-peak write rates, and that it is not the absolute fastest drive. Thermal and power concerns appear in several reviews (6 mentions), with reports of high temperatures under load and the need for extra cooling. A smaller number of reviewers question durability/TBW and capacity options, and a few note compatibility limitations for specific use cases (e.g., PlayStation 5 HMB limitations or USB-A performance). One reviewer also flagged a high recommended retail price despite overall affordability comments from others.
