Reviewer verdict

Across 34 YouTube reviews, the Nothing Phone 2a earns an Index score of 3.7/5, ranking #75 among Smartphones. Reviewers most often praise its design and build, software, camera, while the most common criticisms concern camera, design and build.

The Phone 2a is widely praised for its distinctive design and build, with reviewers (54 mentions) repeatedly highlighting the transparent/unique aesthetic, comfortable in-hand feel, good haptics, and solid durability for the price. Equally frequently noted (54 mentions) is the clean, near-stock Nothing OS experience with robust customization, smooth animations, no bloatware and promised software support, which many reviewers called one of the phone's strongest assets. Reviewers also commonly compliment the cameras (31 mentions) for good daytime detail, stabilization and usable ultrawide and selfies, and the display (30 mentions) for a large, smooth 120 Hz AMOLED panel with good color and brightness for the segment. Performance, battery life and value-for-money are repeatedly seen as strong points too, with reviewers citing responsive performance, long battery life from a 5,000 mAh pack and overall excellent value for the price point.

Criticisms cluster around the camera system (43 mentions), where reviewers point out inconsistent portrait processing, focus and low-light limitations, lack of telephoto/advanced video modes, and some processing delays. Design compromises (31 mentions) such as the plastic frame/back, IP54 rather than IP68 rating, susceptibility to scratches and smudges, and a large footprint were commonly noted as drawbacks. Software and support concerns (20 mentions) include limited glyph customization, occasional bugs and only three years of platform updates, while other recurring negatives mention the absence of wireless charging, fewer accessories in the box, and some performance limits for sustained high-end gaming.

nighttime photos are okay at its best it's not anything to write home about ▶ Nothing Phone (2A) Review After 2 Months - Should You Buy Af @ 11:11
The phone has the tendency of overexposing the shot, or bringing up the darker or shadowed parts, so occasionally you might have to tap on the brightest art of the scene to balance the image, or adjust the exposure manually, to make sure that the shadows and brighter areas even out. ▶ Nothing Phone 2a Detailed Camera Review 📸 | After the Updat @ 4:32

I won’t say that this phone shoots the best looking videos, I feel like it doesn’t capture the actual colours and it also skips a few frames, and when you are capturing videos indoors, you will see a bit of jitters or wobble. ▶ Nothing Phone 2a Detailed Camera Review 📸 | After the Updat @ 3:10

I would say the colours in these videos are not the most accurate, specially if there is too much light behind your subject, and there is even a slight sharpening being applied on top, to make the videos feel more detailed. ▶ Nothing Phone 2a Detailed Camera Review 📸 | After the Updat @ 1:43
These images look sharp and detailed, but as soon as you zoom in even the slightest, you can clearly see that there is artificial sharpening being applied to make the shot seem more detailed. ▶ Nothing Phone 2a Detailed Camera Review 📸 | After the Updat @ 4:13
Shadows are also brought up a bit, which makes some of the videos look slightly faded, but this only happens if you have bright light source behind your subject. ▶ Nothing Phone 2a Detailed Camera Review 📸 | After the Updat @ 1:52
