Reviewer verdict

Across 18 YouTube reviews, the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra earns an Index score of 4.4/5, ranking #4 among Smartphones. Reviewers most often praise its camera, design and build, display, while the most common criticisms concern camera, design and build.

The Pura 80 Ultra is widely praised for its breakthrough camera system, with reviewers (104 mentions) highlighting the dual switchable periscope telephoto lenses, true optical 3.7x and 9.4–10x zoom, excellent low‑light performance, and a large 1‑inch main sensor that yields detailed, stable photos and video. Reviewers also frequently commend its premium design and sturdy build (55 mentions), noting a luxurious finish, comfortable curved edges, and durable Kun/Crystal Armor glass alongside IP68 water resistance. The display and battery are regularly called strong points (26 and 21 mentions respectively), with reviewers pointing to a very bright, high‑resolution LTPO OLED with adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh and fast wired/wireless charging with large battery capacity. Additional positives noted by several reviewers include smooth performance and polished software, good storage and memory options, solid audio, and robust connectivity features across the board.

Criticisms are concentrated on ergonomics and size (design/build: 17 mentions), with many reviewers calling the device large, heavy, and prone to a very prominent camera bump that can require a case and affect one‑handed use. Camera caveats (17 mentions) include some issues shooting moving subjects, noisy ultrawide/night ultrawide results, overly aggressive smoothing/beautification, lack of 8K or 4K@120fps options, and occasional need for steadiness or tripod for best results despite excellent zoom hardware. Software limitations are a recurring complaint (14 mentions), chiefly the absence of Google Play/Google Mobile Services outside China, no app drawer, and other Harmony OS usability quirks, and some reviewers also noted middling raw performance from the Kirin chipset compared with current top‑tier rivals and real‑world battery drain under heavy camera use.
