The TUF Gaming A17 (2024) is repeatedly praised for strong performance, with many reviewers highlighting Ryzen CPUs and capable GPU performance for gaming, content creation, and smooth multitasking (mentioned across multiple reviews). Reviewers also consistently commend the robust, tank-like build quality and upgradability, noting easy access to slots, solid plastics, and a durable hinge (widely mentioned). The 17.3-inch 1080p IPS display with high refresh rates (around 120–144Hz) and good color/contrast for gaming is another frequently cited positive. Reviewers additionally like the comfortable keyboard and large trackpad, a broad set of connectivity options (including HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, and USB‑C), and generally favorable battery life and cooling behavior in many tests.

Common criticisms focus on portability and audio/ webcam compromises: multiple reviewers call the laptop large, heavy, and not very portable, and many found the speakers and 720p webcam underwhelming. Performance limitations under sustained heavy CPU workloads and storage/RAM base configurations are also noted, with reviewers reporting power throttling, thermal strain, and that the base models have limited RAM and relatively modest default SSD capacity. Cooling and fan noise under intense loads were raised repeatedly, and reviewers wanted brighter displays and improved keyboard arrow key size/lighting options in some units.
