Reviewer verdict

Across 27 YouTube reviews, the Dell XPS Desktop 8960 Gaming earns an Index score of 4.3/5, ranking #1 among Gaming PCs & Laptops. Reviewers most often praise its performance, build quality, value, while the most common criticisms concern build quality, performance.

The Dell XPS 8960 is consistently praised as a versatile powerhouse, combining high-end performance with a refined, professional aesthetic. Equipped with potent 13th and 14th generation Intel Core processors and capable Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics, it excels at demanding tasks from 1440p gaming to 4K video editing and 3D rendering. Users appreciate its sleek, understated design that eschews flashy RGB lighting for a minimalist look suitable for any office or home setup. Reviewers also frequently highlight its quiet operation, ample connectivity with a wide array of ports, and an easily accessible chassis that allows for future upgrades. This blend of raw power, sophisticated design, and expandability makes it a top choice for creators, professionals, and gamers seeking substance over style.

A recurring criticism is that many pre-built configurations are unbalanced, pairing a powerful CPU with a weak GPU or only integrated graphics, which severely bottlenecks gaming and visual creative work. The included power supply is often a low-wattage model, significantly restricting future upgrades to more powerful graphics cards without requiring a replacement. While the design is sleek, the cooling system prioritizes quiet operation, which can lead to thermal throttling and reduced performance on high-end CPUs under sustained heavy loads. Other noted drawbacks include limited VRAM on some GPU options and small primary SSDs in certain builds, necessitating further investment.
